A: Giving someone the name of `Abd-ul-Hashim is not permissible because it means servitude to other than Allah. Hashim is not a Name of Allah but the name of a man. Thus, it is impermissible to refer servitude to it (by using the prefix `Abd, i.e. servant, before it). So, this name should be changed to a better and allowable one.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
